Vallarta Team Among the Favorites of 2019 Jalisco Cup

July 16, 2019

Puerto Vallarta will play their first game of the second round in the municipality of Tuxcacuesco on July 21 or 22, then host the Tuxcacuesco team on July 27 at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Stadium.

San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco - The draw to determine the times and locations for each soccer match to be played by the teams that moved on to the second phase of the 2019 Jalisco Cup took place in the municipality of San Juan de los Lagos last Thursday.

Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña, who was among the municipal presidents that attended the draw ceremony, was proud when the Puerto Vallarta soccer squad was highlighted as one of the teams most likely to get to the final game of the amateur tournament organized by the CODE Jalisco.

Accompanied by the director of the Municipal Council of Sports (Comude), José Amador Hernández Madrigal; the technical director of the municipal soccer team, Víctor Manuel Langarica García; and team captain Edgar Vargas Araiza; Mayor Dávalos congratulated the Puerto Vallarta team for coming to the second phase of the tournament undefeated, with 36 goals in favor and 0 against.

He also took the opportunity to invite all of the event's attendees to visit Puerto Vallarta, which is characterized by the hospitality and kindness of her people, as well as its natural beauty, outstanding cuisine and world-class tourist attractions.

"The people of Puerto Vallarta are very friendly... we are ready to welcome all of the teams to our city with a smile and with open arms. And while we want to see all 32 soccer teams do well, we want our team to keep on playing like they did in the first round, and to win first place at the state level," Dávalos Peña expressed.

During the event, the 32 teams were divided into two groups. Puerto Vallarta was placed in group "A," along with the municipalities of Ameca, Autlán and Colotlán; while group "H" comprises the municipalities of Amacueca, Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos, Tamazula de Gordiano and Tuxcacuesco.

In the second phase of the tournament, which will start on July 20, a total of 32 teams will face rivals from other parts of Jalisco, with each team making reciprocal visits to their opponents' home field, as they compete for their spot in the grand finale, a single game to be played by the top two teams at Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara, on September 22, 2019.

In the draw, it was determined that Puerto Vallarta will play their first game of the second round in the municipality of Tuxcacuesco on July 21 or 22, and will then host the Tuxcacuesco team on July 27 at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Stadium. This game will be played at 4:00 pm on court number 1, and everyone is encouraged to come out and cheer them on.
