Cornerstone Hospital Vallarta's Medical Director, Doctor Max Greig, recently donated four walkers to the Puerto Vallarta Family Development System (DIF).
Puerto Vallarta - Doctor Max Greig, Medical Director of the soon-to-be-opened Cornerstone Hospital behind Plaza Caracol in Puerto Vallarta's Hotel Zone, recently presented four walkers to President Gloria Cordova de Gonzalez and Director Rosario Monroy of the Puerto Vallarta Family Development System [DIF.]

Miguel Angel López, the coordinator of DIF's Handicapped Persons Care Program, was put in charge of presenting the donated walkers to 2 local people who are already benefiting from Cornerstone's generous contribution, and is busy contacting other potential recipients in order to deliver the remaining walkers as soon as possible.

The first to receive one of the donated walkers was eighty-one year-old Josefina Martinez Moreno, who lives in Colonia Magisterio. She needed a walking aid due to a cronic problem in her right foot and had been using a borrowed walker that belongs to her neighbors. Now, thanks to the intervention of DIF and Cornerstone’s Board of Directors, Josefina enjoys a new walker of her very own.

The second recipient was Don Braulio Solis Serna, an 84 year-old Veracruzan who lives with his son Braullio Jr. in Colonia La Floresta. One year ago, Don Braulio fell off a minibus and as a result of the injuries he sustained, was having difficulty walking. He thanked DIF and Cornerstone with a smile on his face, saying, "It’ll be a breeze from now on."

Dr. Max Greig explained that the donation of the walkers complies with the philosophy of the Cornerstone Hospital. He also expressed his desire to continue contributing to the well-being of the people of Puerto Vallarta, saying that this is only the first donation of many that Cornerstone Vallarta Hospital vows to make.

Based on the well-established model of Cornerstone Hospitals in the USA, the hospital plans to serve both the Mexican and foreign communities. The facility, which will include 13 physician offices, four intensive care beds, three operating rooms, pre-op and post-recovery rooms and rooms for overnight stays, will be opening sometime this month.

Offering the following services: orthopedics and traumatology, urology, anesthesiology, internal medicine, cardiology, general surgery, pediatrics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT specialist, ophthalmologist, allergist and a nutritionist, plus an array of other specialties such as oncology, rheumatology, rehabilitation, endocrinology, neurology, gastroenterology, hematology and dermatology, Cornerstone Vallarta Hospital will be affiliated with major US, Canadian and European insurance companies.
