Illegal Alien Travels Globe

One of two illegal aliens arrested for trafficking in forged identity documents passed through several countries and was arrested twice after entering this country before making his way to Chambersburg, according to a statement he gave police.
Richard Bravo-Rivera was using the false name Gabriel Angel Cruz when he was arrested Aug. 6 after allegedly handing over a forged Social Security card, resident-alien card and Mexican driver's license to a police informant.
In his translated statement to police, Bravo-Rivera said he left Peru because of "threats from people involved in political affairs." With his son and the son's mother, he went to Ecuador, he said.
Using forged visas, he traveled to Colombia, Cuba, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico before entering the United States near Laredo, Texas, Bravo-Rivera said. He was arrested and sent back to Mexico, re-entered the country and was arrested again, he said.
After the second arrest, Bravo-Rivera told police a man paid his $3,500 bail. While staying at the home of the man who bailed him out, Bravo-Rivera said he met with a man from Chambersburg who arranged for him to move to the borough.
Bravo-Rivera told police he was put in touch with someone who was able to get him the documents he needed to get a job. He paid $800 for the papers, he said.
In his statement to police, he said he was recruited by an unidentified person to begin making forged identifications and other documents, and was supplied some of the computer, printing, and other equipment and supplies to produce them.
Detective William Frisby said Bravo-Rivera used forged information to get a driver's license under the name Gabriel Cruz in New Jersey. |
