Bucerias, Nyarit - Bubba and the Bottom Feeders will have their season debut at 4 pm (PV time) on Sunday, December 4th, at El Pescador Restaurant in Bucerias.

The band returns to the local music scene after taking a year off for some rest and relaxation. Their music - a somewhat zany and sometimes irreverent mix, is guaranteed to get your toes tapping. Arlie Eve, a member of the group, said, "We're just a bunch of guys having fun with the music. We try to make sure the audience has (almost) as much fun as we do."

Band leader Steve (Bubba) Park plays guitar and sings, accompanied by Arlie on guitar, Chico Gonzalez on drums and Dick (Hud) Huddleston on bass. You never know who else might pop in to join them for a set!

This all adds up to a fun evening of eating, drinking and enjoying the show. But Bubba and the Bottom Feeders do have a serious side also.

Off-stage, friends and family provide support selling T-shirts and CDs as well as collecting donations. Funds raised are used to help the less fortunate in local communities in the Bahia de Banderas area. Their primary project involves providing food to needy families - with a focus on helping children.

Every three or four weeks, enough food is purchased by the group to pack about 40 bags to be distributed to needy families. Enough funds are raised during the performances that the food and medical programs can take place year round.

In the seven years of the band's existence, all money raised goes toward their programs, there are no administrative costs since everything is done by volunteers.

So catch the bus to Bucerias and plan on spending an unforgettable evening with Bubba and the Bottom Feeders. You will have fun and be helping a great cause. Be warned though, audience participation is encouraged!

Performances will be each Sunday through the end of March, except for Christmas Day and New Years Day. Click HERE for more info about the band.
