If you are a Theater Buff, November is the perfect time to visit Puerto Vallarta! The fun all started on October 31st, as the Palm kicked-off the PV theater season with a rousing concert adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale of good and evil, "Jekyll & Hyde."

First adapted for the Broadway stage by composer Frank Wildhorn, local talents Sharon Baughman and David White have put together a rousing version of this popular Broadway musical production that will both thrill and delight Puerto Vallarta theater lovers.

The intimate stage at The Palm is the perfect setting for this engaging thriller. Clever lighting effects highlight White's incredible performance as he takes on the dual role of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, while Baughman shines in her double-duty role as both Jekyll's fiancée Emma Careu, and Lucy, the prostitute who becomes entangled with Hyde.

Don't miss Jekyll & Hyde in Concert, playing at 8 pm every Friday and Sunday through November 27th at The Palm, 508 Olas Altas in Puerto Vallarta's Romantic Zone. Tickets cost just $100 pesos and may be reserved in advance. For more information call 221-5829.

On November 12th, the Santa Barbara Theater presents the season opener of their ever-popular murder-mystery dinner show. The first production, called "Recipe For Murder," starts on November 12th and will be playing every Friday night through the 25th, with a special luncheon showing to benefit the Becas Scholarship Fund on Tuesday, November 15th.

Recipe For Murder features Patrice White’s troupe of comical characters — a handful of renowned chefs gathered in Mexico for a gourmet competition — as they get caught up in a plot full of greed and treachery. Somebody gets killed and the dining audience is charged with solving the crime.

Santa Barbara Theater's murder-mystery dinner shows are always fun-filled evenings that combine dining out with an entertaining show, and "Recipe For Murder," promises to be one of the highlights of the Puerto Vallarta theater season.

Tickets cost just $350 peso price per person and include appetizer, a three-course dinner (salad, beef or chicken entrée, and dessert), and the murder-mystery show. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the shows begin at 8:00 pm sharp. For more information, call the Santa Barbara Theater at 223-2048.

Also this month, the International Friendship Club will be holding an IFC Theater Night to benefit the Blind & Deaf Children and Adults of Vallarta. IFC members will be putting on a special production of the play "Love Letters," which will take place at the IFC Clubhouse on November 17th at 8 pm. Tickets cost $100 pesos per person, and are on sale at the IFC Clubhouse. For more information, call Valeska at 222-5466.

Both Theater and Puerto Vallarta aficionados will enjoy Pen & Inc. Entertainment's presentation of Tennessee Williams' critically acclaimed play "The Night of the Iguana." Playing from Friday, November 18th through Saturday, December 12th at the Auditorio Cultural in Old Town Puerto Vallarta, The Night of the Iguana promises to be a big hit.

Tennessee Williams's The Night of the Iguana is the last of the distinguished American playwright's major artistic, critical, and box office successes. The play, which was first performed at the Royale Theatre on Broadway on December 28, 1961, won Williams his fourth New York Drama Critics Award.

And, as everyone knows, the blockbuster movie directed by John Huston and filmed on Mismaloya Beach in 1963, along with the media frenzy caused by Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor's illicit love affair, put Puerto Vallarta on the map - and changed the face of Puerto Vallarta forever.

Don't miss Pen & Inc. Entertainment's production of The Night of the Iguana. Presented in the air-conditioned comfort at the Cecatur auditorium, located at Zaragoza at Matamoros in Old Town Vallarta, this local favorite is sure to intrigue and delight Puerto Vallarta locals and visitors alike. For more information call 223-5260, or visit Pen & Inc.'s website at www.penandinc.ca.
