Mayor Gustavo González Villaseñor [C] awards first prize to the Tracomsa Charros, who won the 4th National Charro Championship Vallarta 2006.
Earlier this month, droves of "Cowboys" from fifteen states in Mexico came to Puerto Vallarta to compete in what is truly the Mexican national sport, Charrería, during the 4th edition National Charro Championship. But the Tracomsa Charros of Nuevo Leon left the competition in the dust, winning the championship with 344 points overall.

In front of a enormous crowd at the Lienzo Charro Miguel "Prieto" Ibarría, the Tracomsa Charros of Nuevo Leon were awarded first place, defeating the "Jalicienses" team of Tequila Don Roberto, who earned 300 points, and the Tijuana Rancheros team from Baja California, who finished the competition with 243 points.

Before the grand finale, the last competitions of the qualifying phase were carried out, with the Tracomsa team winning their pass to the finals with 345 points, the Cancún team amazed everyone by winning 332 points, followed by Don Ricardo Zermeño´s team from Santa Cruz del Valle, Jalisco, who earned 230 points.

In case you missed all of the excitement, here is a breakdown of each team's action, which demonstrates how the Tracomsa Charros from Nuevo Laredo won the the 4th edition National Charro Championship in Puerto Vallarta:

In the "Manganas a Caballo," Ariel Cabañas pulled down 23 points in his second shot and 15 in his third - with with 3 points at a time. The team didn't even have to do the "Paso de la Muerte" portion of the competition, as they already had enough points to win the new truck.
