Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is the place to be from March 27th-April 2nd, as the PGA Champions Tour and ClubCorp host the Blue Agave Golf Classic at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at Vista Vallarta Golf Club.

The Puerto Vallarta Championship round, will be played from March 27–April 2, 2006, with player practice rounds on March 27th and 28th and the Open Qualifying Round held on March 27th.

The official competition will be played from March 31st through April 2nd on the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at Vista Vallarta Golf Club. All three rounds of the event will be aired on the Golf Channel in the United States and on ESPN2 in Mexico.

The 54-hole stroke-play tournament will feature a 78-player field and official prize money of $1.6 million, with the winner collecting $240,000 USD. Some of the greatest players on the Champions Tour today, including Dana Quigley, 2005 Player of Year, Craig Stadler and Hale Irwin are planning to attend this event.

"Puerto Vallarta is one of the great golf destinations in Mexico. Our players look forward to spending the week at the Puerto Vallarta Championship where they’ll compete on a terrific Jack Nicklaus designed golf course, while enjoying the wonderful hospitality the facility and area have to offer," said Champions Tour president Rick George.

As one of Puerto Vallarta’s most important golf events, the Vallarta Blue Agave Golf Classic not only directly benefits our local economy but also contributes to local charity causes.

PGA Champions Tour events generate significant sums of money for charity. On October 30th, 2005, the PGA Tour announced that they had reached the $1 billion dollar milestone in charitable giving, dating back to the first recorded donation in 1938.

Here in Vallarta, The PGA and the local organizing committee have commited to donating more than $50,000 USD to some of our local charities, including: Make A Wish, Becas Vallarta A.C (Scholarships Vallarta), Toys For Tots, R.I.S.E. (the Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza Children’s Shelter), the International Friendship Club, and the Children Of The Dump program. To find out how you can help, click HERE.

General Admission tickets are available for the event for $10 USD daily, Monday-Thursday, $15 USD daily Friday-Sunday and Weekly passes are also available for $50 USD. Tickets are available by calling the tournament office at 290-2672.
