Talking Tourism at the Annual Gala PV

On March 14th and 15th, the annual Gala PV took place at the Fiesta Americana Hotel. Join Banderas News video journalist, Laura Gelezunas, as she takes a look at how this event helps increase tourism in Puerto Vallarta.
Puerto Vallarta - The annual Gala PV program is the single most important event of the year for tourism in Puerto Vallarta, as local hotels meet with travel agencies from the US, Canada and Mexico to promote Puerto Vallarta as a world-class vacation destination.

This year, the Gala PV took place on March 14th and 15th at the Fiesta Americana Hotel, with close to 60 travel wholesalers and 80 local hoteliers participating. Plus the Fideicomiso, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, is working closely with the Mexican Council of Tourist Promotion to further enhance the market.

According to Bill Herbertson of Conquest Vacations, "We're trying to get set up for next year, contracts for next year, improve the program, expand it... take advantage of the future - because the future is good in Vallarta."

And with that kind of positive response, local tourism industry leaders are hoping to raise hotel occupancy year-round. "We are trying to find other markets where we can support the low seasons like September, October and November," said Puerto Vallarta Hotel Association President, Oscar Rivero.

As a result of the two-day conference, the Puerto Vallarta tourism industry expects to bring in over $150 million US dollars next year. Gala PV wrapped-up activities on March 15th with a Mexican Fiesta at the Sheraton Hotel, and Banderas News video journalist, Laura Gelezunas, had a front row seat at the Gala PV Party.
