The recently formed Vallarta Orchid Society is proud to announce the third in a series of lectures on orchids entitled "Orchid Terminology and Vocabulary." This talk will take place on Sunday, April 30th, starting at 1 pm, at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. Admission is free.

The first talk, "What is an Orchid?" acquainted all with the characteristics that define an orchid and separate orchids from other plants, and was attended by a couple of dozen interested people.

The second talk, entitled "The Pros and Cons of Natural Mounting vs. Potting," discussed the various techniques of both natural mounting and potting and included demonstrations. The reasons for both methods and the drawbacks of each were also discussed. This popular talk was attended by about fifty orchid enthusiasts.

The upcoming third talk, "Orchid Terminology and Vocabulary" will introduce many of the words that are unique to plants in general and orchids in particular. These words will make it easier to understand articles written about orchids and impress your gardening friends.

The Vallarta Orchid Society welcomes anyone with an interest in orchids. These series of talks are designed to educate and enlighten, without getting into too much technical and scientific detail.

The Vallarta Botanical Gardens are located 24 Km south of town, just 3 Km past Chico’s Paradise. The bus to El Tuito will stop at the entrance to the Gardens, and will return you to town. Admission to the Gardens is free, as are the talks.
