Caracas - A one hundred vehicle caravan toured the eastern zone of Caracas, mainly settled by the middle and upper class, to support Venezuela s President Hugo Chavez re-election on December 3.

The unusual demonstration was organized Sunday by Clase Media en Positivo group, an organization that backs Chavez program and has an extensive tradition in the most popular groups.

One of the attendees, Lourdes Barbella, stated that policy of the Venezuelan government since 1999 not only benefits the poor, but also the middle and upper classes among the country s 26 million inhabitants.

The caravan visited Hatillo, Baruta and Chacao municipalities, all of them controlled by opposition mayors, to ensure the head of State s triumph in the presidential elections for the 2007-2012 period.

According to recent surveys, Chavez has more than 70 percent of voting intentions, with a proposal of deepening the process of changes started seven years ago and fostering its socialist nature.

His opposition candidate, Zulia s governor Manuel Rosales, has from 15 percent to 20 percent.
