Texas Week in Vallarta
email this pageprint this pageemail usSue Fornoff - PVNN

"Texans love Texas!" said Salvador Ramos Leos, VP of Sales and Marketing at the Marival Grand resort.

That explains why Funjet Vacations and the Marival are working together to host the first ever "Texas Week in Vallarta" October 2 - 9. The idea is a joint creation of Ramos at the Marival and RueAnn Adamson of Funjet's Dallas sales department.

A chef from the Dallas area restaurant Love & War in Texas will be on-site creating Texas specialties each night. Some selections mentioned were brisket, chicken-fried steak, ribs and tradtional TexMex dishes such as fajitas and enchiladas. Lone Star beer and Texas wines will be served as well. Throughout the resort's restaurants and snack bars there will be "Texas corners" to allow all guests to sample the Texas fare.

What Texas barbecue would be complete without music? A country-western band from Dallas will be appearing nightly and will be playing plenty of dance tunes. There will be line dancing and dance contests, too. Everybody ready for the Cotton Eyed Joe?

Daytime activites include horseshoe pitching, washer toss and a contest for the best original cowboy hat. Plenty of time is available for enjoying the beautiful beach and pools.

Texas Week inVallarta is being promoted mainly in the Dallas area and response has been great, according to Ramos at the Marival.

Until fairly recently, charter flights from Texas to Vallarta were only available in the summer. Funjet has begun service throughout a larger part of the year and the Texas Week promotion is intended to lure travelers in a traditionally slower season.

Ramos added that night passes are available at the Marival to allow local residents to enjoy the Texas festivites. For 450 pesos each, visitors can enjoy dinner, unlimited drinks, music and all the resort has to offer.

Please contact the hotel directly for more information.
