November Musicals at Santa Barbara Dinner Theater
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

Solomon Rose and Kathy Overly star in "Soiree at La Cage Aux Folles," which opens on Nov 11th at the Santa Barbara Theater.
This month, an exciting lineup of popular musicals with a Vallarta-esque twist will launch the dinner theater season at the Santa Barbara Theater on the corner of Olas Altas and Basilio Badillo in Puerto Vallarta's Romantic Zone.

Each show will run once a week on its respective night through November and well into December, and audiences will have their choice of show only, or dinner and show.

MONDAYS - "Los Bambinos in Concert!" opens Nov 20th - Vallarta's youthful quintet Los Bambinos set box office records at Santa Barbara, selling out all 11 concert shows last season. Their lively music, wonderful vocals and snazzy spin on classic songs turned the town on its ear, prompting Vallarta Lifestyles Magazine to crown Los Bambinos "Best New Musical Group."

TUESDAYS - The campy, fun musical "Little Shop of Horrors" opens on Halloween night at the Santa Barbara Dinner Theatre. Often referred to as "Everyone's favorite boy meets girl, plant eats the world, love story," this wonderfully funny and poignant musical is directed by the same talented duo (Freddy and Paul) who produced Nunsense, Godspell and Rocky Horror.

WEDNESDAYS - "Nunsense — On Vacation in Vallarta" opens Nov 1st at a special price! Tickets for the Dinner Theatre Plan, which starts at 6:30 pm, are $220 pesos for a 3 course meal or just go for the show (starts at 8 pm) for just $120 pesos.

FRIDAYS - "Bob Fosse – And All That Dance" opens Nov 17th. A tribute to legendary dancer, director and choreographer Bob Fosse, who dramatically revolutionized the musical theater with his unique vision and sexy style. To celebrate his far-flung talents and myriad contributions to musical theater, Santa Barbara will host a tribute show featuring an all-Vallarta dance troupe performing a collection of his most celebrated song-and-dance numbers from his greatest shows.

SATURDAYS - "Soiree at La Cage Aux Folles" - Solomon Rose and co-star Kathy Overly will return to Santa Barbara this coming season to premiere two new blockbusters, "Soiree at La Cage Aux Folles," which opens on Nov 11th, and "The Legend of Dick and Liz" in early January 2007. Without question, Solomon Rose is Vallarta's preeminent entertainer whose original, uproarious adaptations of popular musicals never fail to pack the house.

All Performances are in English. Unless otherwise noted, most shows have 2 plans: the Dinner Theatre Plan starts at 6:30 pm and costs $350 pesos for the show and a 3 course meal. Performances start at 8 pm. Show Only tickets are just $220 pesos. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended as these shows often sell out in advance - especially during the peak season.

To get your tickets, call 223-2048 between 9 am and 6 pm, or stop by the theatre box office at Olas Altas 351, where you can pick up a copy of the November Playbill, a monthly publication featuring cast photos and profiles, synopses of shows, a calendar of events, ticketing information, and sneak peaks of coming attractions.
