Vallarta Orchestra Begins New Season on a High Note
email this pageprint this pageemail usShannon MacLachlan - PVNN

The Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra, a non-profit organization comprised of 10-15 musicians who share the love of performing music, began the new season on a high note last Friday at the Los Mangos Library's 10th anniversary celebration.

The Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra helped celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Los Mangos Library on Friday night by performing a number of pieces by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Holst among others. The orchestra is a non-profit organization comprised of 10-15 musicians who share the love of performing music and playing together.

Often the Chamber Orchestra concerts include more than full-ensemble pieces, and Friday's concert was no exception. A trio comprised of Sharon Baughman-White on piano, d'Rachael on flute and Kathy Overly singing soprano did an exquisite performance of Schubert's "Shepherd on a Rock."

The orchestra's Christmas concert will be held at the Cultural Centre on the Isla Rio Cuale on December 17th at 7:30 pm. Entry is by donation. This concert will include various instrumental and vocal performances, as well as audience-participation in carol singing. Don't miss out on what will prove to be a very special evening - all are welcome!

The musicians rehearse once a week under the leadership of Mary MacLachlan, and are always looking for more musicians. If you are interested in joining the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra, please call Mary at 222-7241 for more information.
