Puerto Vallarta - Tired of searching for truly fresh bagels? Craving meatloaf or chicken liver pâté? When was the last time you could find honest-to-goodness Focaccia in Vallarta? The search for these and many more delectable items can be found in a new store recently opened in the Romantic Zone - simply called The Deli.

Created by one of Vallarta's most celebrated restaurants - Daiquiri Dick's - The Deli promises to be a staple for visitors and residents alike, whether searching for something delicious to bring to that dinner party, for lunch in the office, to a special picnic on the beach or boat, or grabbing a tasty meal for the long flight home.

The list of available treats is diverse and is guaranteed fabulous. Their bread, baked daily, includes Baguettes, Italian, Kaiser rolls, Wheat, Focaccia and a variety of Croissants and Bagels.

And trust me, this list is just the start: Meatloaf, Chicken Liver Pâté, Roasted Pork Loin, Terrine of Chicken, Quiche, Roast Beef Sandwiches, Smoked Turkey with Cranberry Chutney, Ham and Cheese on a Baguette, Curried Chicken Salad, Coleslaw, a variety of Salsas, Green Salads with homemade dressings including Balsamic, Honey Mustard and Ranch. Even the famous Daiquiri Dick's marinated olives are available.

From gourmet granolas, to cookies, sandwiches and desserts, you'll find it at The Deli, and you'll find it fresh. And vegetarians won't be disappointed with the many items The Deli offers to meet your needs as well.

"Guests of Daiquiri Dick's have been asking us to open a deli in Vallarta, so we knew the need was there," said Daiquiri Dick's owners Peter and Tari Bowman. When they proposed the idea to their Executive Chef Ignacio Uribe and Manager Hnoi Lattitham, those two responded to the challenge with their usual enthusiasm and talent to create The Deli's yummy line-up.

"Since we live here as well, we knew that the need existed for a slice of the deli culture right here in Banderas Bay. We hope you all agree," added the Bowmans.

The Deli is open from 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday at Venustiano Carranza 311 in the Romantic Zone. Their phone number is 223-9523.
