Home Cooking at Mama Dolores Diner

BanderasNews food writer and restaurant reviewer, Gary R. Beck, pays a visit to Mama Dolores Diner, a popular South Side restaurant that has been serving Puerto Vallarta residents and visitors home style Mexican and American comfort food since 1996.
Part indoor restaurant, part elevated sidewalk street café, Mama Dolores has been serving Puerto Vallarta since 1996. Now owned by Grant Hunermund and Kieran Justason from Toronto, this popular South Side diner serves home style Mexican and American comfort food.
We have sampled many dishes here and are particularly fond of the 1/3 lb burger with French fries, Mama's old fashioned meatloaf and the BBQ pork ribs, half or full order. One companion raved about the whole Huachinango [Red Snapper.]
A special treat for homesick visitors is Mama's famous turkey dinner with all the trimmings, served from 4-11 pm every Sunday. Other offerings include: Lasagna [meat or vegetarian], Spaghetti and Meat Balls served with a small Caesar salad, Taco Salad with chicken or beef, Fried Chicken [$95 pesos] and Fajitas [$105-$150 pesos.]
Mama Dolores is a fine place to lounge under the outdoor awnings and sip a late afternoon beverage of choice, meet passersby or chat with old and new friends. Mama D's also has a Margarita Club - Buy 9, 10th is free - and a very popular Happy Hour with Beer and Margarita specials from 4-7 pm.
Friday nights in high season meet Mama D herself. Mama's outrageous, personality will keep you in stitches - guaranteeing a very fun time!
Open every Tuesday through Sunday from 4-11 pm, Mama Dolores Diner is located at Olas Altas 534-B near Púlpito in Puerto Vallarta's Romantic Zone. Be sure to bring cash, because Mama does not accept credit cards!
