Lanna Gym's owner and "Professor" Carlos Solorio was magnificent in his return to the ring Saturday night after over a one year layoff from competition. Solorio was lightning fast against his younger opponent from Mexico City as he knocked him out midway through the first round. With brutally hard slashing kicks and exceptional speed, it was virtually over before the Mexico City fighter could mount any offense.

The other two Lanna Gym professionals did not fare as well as both were defeated by way of TKO in fights stopped due to injury. Ernesto "Finito" Valdez was ahead in his fight when he was on the receiving end of a vicious kick to the head that opened up a cut above his eye midway through the second round. With ring doctors jumping in, they called the fight as a deep cut above the eye is too dangerous to continue to fight. Alfredo Diaz Servin of Mexico City was declared the winner. After being attended to, Valdez took the microphone and asked for a rematch, which was accepted by Servin. Look for the two to brawl again in the near future.

Eder "Thai" Huerta suffered the same fate against Hector "Hierro" Uribe of Puerto Vallarta. In the fourth round in a close bout, Huerta threw a kick and went down in agonizing pain immediately after he connected. His toe was dislocated as again doctors surrounded the fighters. The medics popped the toe back in place as the fighter lay in extreme pain.

In the main amateur event, Hugo Solorio looked to come back from defeat after his last fight, which ended a long winning streak. Solorio appeared tired during the bout and Oswaldo Rangel of Mexico City provided enough offense to win by unanimous decision in a bout of non stop action. After the defeat, a rematch between the two was announced.

There were four other amateur fights to open the card before two six year olds delighted the crowd with a two round exhibition. Adrian Torres Arechiga and David "Juligan" Mejia, both of Lanna Gym showed amazing ring savvy for youngsters in a fight that is always called a draw. A few coins were thrown into the ring, which is traditional when two youngsters fight. The coins were followed by 20 peso bills as money was thrown in the ring by those in attendance. After all was scooped up and put in a towel, it appeared that the two earned more money on this night than any of the professionals. The opening bout was won by Remigio "El Mara" of Speedy Gym Puerto Vallarta in a decision. Jorge Olivera of Lanna Gym won the next amateur bout by unanimous decision, followed by another Lanna victory by Carlos Palomera.

The next Muay Thai event is scheduled for late March. When the announcement is made, get your tickets early as the popular sport of Muay Thai boxing sells out quickly.
