When you are on vacation the last thing you want to worry about is your health, so it's good to know that in Puerto Vallarta there are modern hospitals and clinics with bilingual doctors and medical specialists that offer high-quality emergency care, as well as routine medical and surgical procedures, to tourists.

But don't take our word for it. Take a look at a few of the comments sent to BanderasNews by some visitors who found themselves in need of medical services on their Puerto Vallarta vacation:

I have just returned home to Canada from a two week vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Unfortunately at the start of my second week, I came down with a very bad case of food poisoning. After being very sick for 15 hours and becoming dehydrated, I knew it was time to make a trip to the hospital.

I went to Amerimed Hospital, and I was very glad I did. The entire staff, front desk, nurses and the Doctor were extremely professional, efficient, and kind. I was seen and examined very promptly, and my treatment started within minutes of arrival.

I required IV fluids, the nurse started my IV on the first attempt. I was very impressed, as I have bad veins and always endure multiple attempts at home here in Canada when needing an IV started.

I was given a private room with cable TV and its own bathroom for the 8 hours I was at the hospital. The hospital is very clean. I am a nurse, so of course I know what to look for and what to expect during a hospital visit, and the staff at Amerimed met my expectations and exceeded them.

For some reason, hospitals in Mexico seem to get a bad reputation here in Canada. Perceptions seem to be that you will receive poor care and the hospitals are unclean and unsanitary. This is not so! No one likes to become ill on vacation, but if you do, I would definitely recommend Amerimed Hospital.

Recently, my wife broke her hip while vacationing north of Puerto Vallarta and she was hospitalized at Cornerstone. Our care was so outstanding that I want to thank the surgeon, anesthetist and nursing staff for their care and loving kindness. Also, to thank the founders of Cornerstone Hospital for their foresight in locating such a hospital in the Banderas Bay region.
