Goodbye Old Friend

Mary Sue loved to work, almost as much as she loved to party.
Puerto Vallarta has lost one of its legends. Mary Sue Morris, owner of Viva Jewelry Store, died March 17, 2007 after a battle with cancer in Houston, Texas.

The high-spirited entrepreneur traveled the world in search of eye-catching items for her world famous shop at Basilio Badillo 274. The store features jewelry from over 800 designers. There are also handbags, hats, custom-made espadrilles and ballet flats, plus other unique accessories.

Mary Sue and Viva Jewelry have long been synonymous with good taste and a good time. The buying experience is more in tune to a party. There's great music, a lively atmosphere and, of course, a gallery of baubles, bangles and beads.

The regular anniversary party draws hundreds of visitors and locals, who can sip wine, dance and shop. The store also has regular trunk shows with featured jewelry designers from Mexico and all over the world.

Mary Sue also pioneered the marketing coup of the Viva Girls. The models can be seen in local restaurants shrouded in capes and the famous Riviera hats. The capes unfold to reveal lovely sarong sets and breath taking jewelry.

Mary Sue loved to work, almost as much as she loved to party. She leaves behind a legacy of exuberance, business success and setting a new standard for a jewelry shopping experience.

There is a memorial service planned in Puerto Vallarta, but the information has not been disclosed. As details become available, you will see them first on BanderasNews.
