The release of international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles shows the US government's hypocrisy and falseness of its so-called commitment to the struggle against terrorism, the Mexican press published on Friday.

The main headlines of dozens of media covered Posada Cariles parole granted on Thursday by the US authorities, which ignored evidence about his participation in innumerable criminal actions. He is awaiting a trial for migratory violations, scheduled for May 11.

According to the newspaper, as a CIA agent, Posada Carriles was trained to carry out attacks against civilians, and he advised Venezuelan, Guatemalan, Salvadorian, Chilean, and Argentinean repression corps.

The comments said that as part of his record, he put bombs in Cuban government buildings and organized an attack against a Cuban aircraft in 1976, causing the death of 73 people.

It also said he served in Central American military regimes, with approval of the White House, in counterinsurgency and weapon supply tasks for the counterrevolutionary groups in the region.

The international terrorist was arrested in Panama in November, 2000, for planning the assassination of Cuban President Fidel Castro, who was visiting that country, but was pardoned by Mireya Moscoso in her last government action.

Lawyer Jose Pertierra, who represents the Venezuelan government in the request to extradite the terrorist, told the daily from Washington that the decision makes a mockery of US justice
