Locals Love Adriana's Place
email this pageprint this pageemail usJoy Phoenix - PVNN

Adriana's Place is located at 509 Olas Altas on the south side of Puerto Vallarta. For more information, visit AdrianasPlacePV.com.
The restaurant business is in Adriana's blood. "There is," she tells me, "nothing else I'd rather do. I get to meet such wonderful people, serve them delicious food, and make them happy! I make so many friends, and they all get to come to my place for dinner!"

And indeed being at Adriana's Place is just like sitting in her living room. From the astonishing crayon painting her Mum did of her, to the huge glass cabinet filled with her Mayan collection and fossils you'd only otherwise see in the Rio Cuale Museum, everywhere you look there is art and fascinating knick-knacks from her life and antiques and collectibles from her travels around the world.

It's a warm and wonderful place to break bread, and the food is amazing. Adriana's Tortilla Soup is the best in Vallarta, the recipe has been passed down through her family and is renowned throughout Mexico.

Nothing leaves Adriana's kitchen without her personal seal of approval, the food is bought fresh every day from the local markets, and the pride she takes in serving high quality meals guarantees return clients, and friends!

The best news for the locals is that this great food is also the most affordable in town. A hamburger or BBQ sandwich will set you back $20 pesos between 1 pm and 5 pm. Between 5 and 7 pm you can have filet mignon with pasta or potatoes, rice or veggies and a glass of wine for $99 pesos! Cocktails and mixed drinks are 2 x 1 ALL DAY. The menu isn't huge, but it has something for everyone - and you just have to try the Fish Adriana, it's her own recipe and famous in its own right.

Situated at the top of Olas Altas, Adriana's Place Bar and Steak House is one of the best people watching places in Old Town. You can sit downstairs at the sidewalk tables to see and be seen, or you can journey through a muralled corridor that begins with a tropical paradise more remote than Vallarta, continues on past a shipwreck and mermaids, dolphins and angel fish, then up the stairs past mountains and waterfalls until you reach a fairy tale castle that guards the entrance to the restaurant itself.

Everything about Adriana's Place is special in some way, and though it's only been open three months, it feels like it's been here forever. No wonder the locals have made it their own.
