The two might have seen their last Pro-Am as a team stated Tennis Director Martin Parra, as Roberto is now an assistant pro at Club Marival and Sergio soon should join him at the a resort in the near future. The Martinez brothers, now 16 and 17, won the match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 and dominated most games. Torres and Meza played well but they were unable to find a weakness against the Martinez brothers in the finals.
Play in the tennis segment of the Sports Classic was split between the Sheraton and Canto Del Sol, although the finals were all played at the Canto Del Sol facility.
In the "A" singles, Alex Garcia won a tough first set from Bernardo Salas at 7-5, but got his game going, winning the second set at 6-0. Salas has a busy tournament as he also played in the "B" division. He made it to the finals against Cesar Huerta earlier in the day and took the "B" trophy in a straight set 6-2, 6-2 victory. In the "C" division Javier Diaz won his first tournament since he began playing tennis about a year ago. He defeated Rodrigo Martinez in a long three set match 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 to break his maiden in tournament play.
Congratulations to all winners and participants in the tennis part of the Sports Classic.
