Stressful Situations Don't Cause Long Term Problems

Our inability to effectively manage the stress that situations cause, is what results in long term health, relationship, work, and life problems.

Stress has been acknowledged as America's number one health problem since 1983 when TIME magazine's June 6 cover story called stress "The Epidemic of the Eighties". No-one will argue that conditions have progressively worsened since then.

The facts are, we have not been taught how to deal with our stress, instead we are told 'work harder' 'work smarter' 'take a pill' 'have a drink' 'relax and forget about it' - anything except actually resolving it.

So the stress gets suppressed into the body, where it begins to manifest as pain and disharmony and dis-ease, doing its best to draw attention to an unresolved issue.

Authorities now believe that up to 90 percent of all illness is stress-related. This is the direct result of suppressing symptoms, rather than addressing causes.

Taking a pill to deaden your pain is like putting masking tape over the oil warning light in the car because you don't like the message that it's sending you. It can't ever help, it can only delay the issue for a while before it manifests as something more complicated and expensive.

Pain is the body's warning system, without it you could not know if there was something wrong, and so you couldn't fix it. Masking a pain symptom does nothing but force the cause to manifest in other more drastic ways.

To quote my old Mum "an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure."

Paying attention to the messages your body sends you, and taking appropriate action to nip a potential problem in the bud before things become serious is only common sense. You do it for your car!

Different emotions live in different parts of the body; you can often tell what your problem is by where it is. For example, your left side represents your female side home, relationships, creativity, Mum stuff. Your right side is your male side work, money, logic, Dad stuff. If the pain is on the back it is past. If it is on the front of your body it is up for you now in the present.

Resentment is represented in the shoulders and hips. If a client comes to me with pain in the left shoulder I will check for issues relating to resentment around relationships. If the pain is on the right I will ask how things are going for them at work or how they are feeling about their financial situation.

Undealt with, long term resentment will eventually manifest as cancer. Where the cancer is will tell you what the resentment relates to. Consider the alarming rise in women with breast cancer. How many of those women have spent their lives nurturing everyone except themselves?

'Treating' the cancer by cutting it out whilst leaving the emotional cause undealt with will only result in it recreating itself. I'm not saying surgery isn't sometimes necessary; I am saying that, by itself it can not 'heal' a patient, because it is not addressing anything other than the symptom.

Clearing stress as it arises, instead of storing it in the body, is nothing more than common sense, and will avert untold health issues later on.

Following is an emPOWERment tool from the Stress Seminar I will be presenting on Monday July 30th. It is called a Cook's Hookup after Wayne Cook, a pioneering researcher of bio energetic force fields.

The Hookup unscrambles your energies, helps ground and center you when you are in overwhelm or feeling confused or upset, it helps you focus and think more clearly. Basically it is 'Control alt delete' for your body's circuitry.

Next time you are just not coping, take two minutes and try this two part exercise:

Sit with your spine straight
Cross one ankle over the other
Cross one wrist over the other
Turn your hands so that the palms are facing each other and interlace your fingers
Twist your hands up to your chest
Place your tongue on the roof of your mouth and breathe slowly and deeply, imagining a fountain of energy flowing up your spine.

Do this for one minute.

Uncross your ankles and wrists
Place your feet flat on the ground
Touch your fingertips and thumb tips together
Continue imagining the energy, breathing slowly and deeply with your tongue on the roof of your mouth for a further minute.

Notice the difference.

From July 30th through August 2nd, JOY! will be presenting a series of four emPOWERment seminars before leaving on her San Diego tour. Each seminar is 90 minutes long. They will run from 7:30 pm till 9 pm. Investment is $250 pesos per seminar or $200 each if you book for all four.
