To celebrate the opening of their new Puerto Vallarta art gallery, Galería Papillón owners Mac and Lou MacTavish will be hosting an Art Benefit on August 4th from 8 to 11 pm, and donating 40% of all proceeds to Make a Wish Mexico.
When it comes to helping those in need, the people of Puerto Vallarta are known for their great generosity. So Mac and Lou MacTavish decided to celebrate the opening of their new Puerto Vallarta art gallery, Galería Papillón, scheduled to take place on August 4th from 8 to 11 pm, by donating 40% of all proceeds from sales and a silent art auction to Make a Wish Mexico.

"Children are the foundation of the culture and they must have a fair start in their lives. By working with Make-A-Wish we are able to help, in a small way, the families of children with life threatening illnesses," said Lou.

Being good friends with talented local artists such as Hidalgo Samperio (who created the beautiful murals in Paradise Village) and his daughter, Tanya, has greatly inspired them, making them realize that they could use their artistic creations here to do many worthwhile things for the community.

Mac was raised in an orphanage in Canada, so, as one of their first endeavors, they donated paintings to be auctioned off at last February's annual R.I.S.E. fundraiser. This gave them a glimpse of the great generosity Vallarta has for helping those in need, so they plan on hosting fundraisers for other orphanages, such as Casa Hogar, in the near future.

According to Mac, "As we grow older we realize we are all a mist appearing and disappearing and we would like to make our days count as much as possible. We look forward to knowing the community of Vallarta and growing with it."

Don't miss your chance to meet these two wonderful artists, while helping to make a child's wish come true, at the Grand Opening of Galería Papillón, #227 Hidalgo in downtown Puerto Vallarta, on August 4th from 8-11 pm. For more information call (322) 222-5325 or visit PapillonArtGallery.com.
About the Artists:

Lou (Louii) MacTavish - Born in Consort, Alberta, Canada in 1954 and raised in Calgary, Lou's medium is oil on canvas. Her grandfather was a cook for the threshing crews that traveled the prairies in the 1800's, giving her a passion for the Old West that can be seen in her paintings of Cowgirls/boys, horses, landscapes, and wild flowers.

Lou's medium is oil on canvas and her paintings are collected by Members of Parliament, British Petroleum, Shell, as well as various private collectors. She has been commissioned by the Ministry of Indian Affairs and was chosen to have one of her paintings auctioned at the renowned Calgary Stampede Western Art Live Auction.

Louii now resides in Mexico, where she has discovered a deep passion for the people, their history and way of life, as well as the flora and fauna, which are all depicted in her new oil paintings. She finds fulfillment in raising funds and awareness for the orphanages through her art.

Mac MacTavish - Widely known for his soulful portraits, Mac calls the human face the "centre of an individual's universe." Using oil as his medium, Mac has worked hard to develop a unique method of using brush and knife to create portraits, landscapes and florals in his own original style.

Intrigued by the power of suggestion, his favorite artists are Van Gogh, Jack King, and Jackson Pollock. Collectors of his paintings are: The Ministry of Indian Affairs, CPAC, British Petroleum, Shell, members of Parliament and private collectors.

For the last 10 years, Mac has been commissioned by charities in Canada, but at this point in his career he has transferred his focus to helping the needy and the children in tribulation in Mexico, where he now resides.
