The National Water Commission called local authorities to take preventive measures, especially in the states of Campeche, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, Veracruz, Michoacan and Tamaulipas.
Seventy people have been killed and hundreds have lost their properties during the ongoing rainy season in Mexico, according to statistics from the Civil Protection Department, attached to the Government Ministry.

Authorities said those statistics include 32 deaths reported in Sierra Negra, in the state of Puebla, this week, when a bus was buried by an avalanche.

The experts noted that 36 relevant developments have been reported in the country during the ongoing rainy season, which runs from May to October, so the Government Ministry had to issue eight emergency statements due to heavy rains.

The Civil Protection Department pointed out recently that 27,163 temporary shelters were activated to counter the situation in case of heavy rains, mainly in October, which is the most active month of the season.

For its part, the National Water Commission called local authorities to take preventive measures, especially in the states of Campeche, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, Veracruz, Michoacan and Tamaulipas.
