Mexico's President Felipe Calderon increased on Tuesday the 2008 budget to a total of 2.3 million U.S. dollars for disabled athletes that are training for Beijing Paralympic Games.

"Mexico is a country called to be a winner, a country of leaders and champions. In Mexico, people fight, never give up," Calderon said on Tuesday during a sports ceremony held at the High Performance National Development Center in Mexico City.

"Everyone in Mexico wants to see them fighting until they win and also, beyond sports, fighting every day to reach their goals in life," he said.

Mexican women athletes put Mexico's name up high in Rio de Janeiro's Pan American Games, Calderon added.

"Even though they only represented 45 percent of the delegation, women obtained 60 percent of the 73 medals Mexico accomplished in Rio de Janeiro 2007."
