The agency said that an average of 250,000 people are deported to Central America each year, mostly Guatemalans or Salvadorians.
Mexican federal agents have arrested 49 undocumented Guatemalans in Tlaquepaque, part of Guadalajara, the capital city of western Mexico state of Jalisco, the state attorney's office (PGR) said in a Sunday statement.

The statement said the Guatemalans had been trying to reach the U.S. in search of work.

Officers from the PGR and the Federal Investigation Agency (AFI) arrested the migrants on Saturday after going to a restaurant to investigate an anonymous telephone tip-off reporting two drug dealers there.

During the search, the AFI officers found the Guatemalans, who were then transferred to the National Migration Agency, to prepare them for deportation.

An average of 250,000 people are deported to Central America each year, mostly Guatemalans or Salvadorians.
