Pampered at Piazzetta

Metamorsa entertained diners at La Piazzetta last Saturday night

La Piazzetta has been serving delicious pizza, pasta and Italian specialties since 1998.

Metamorsa (formerly Los Bambinos,) the "Best Musical Group in Puerto Vallarta"
Saturday night, and the hopping place to be was La Piazzetta on the northwest corner of Olas Altas and Rodolfo Gomez on the South Side of Puerto Vallarta. Pampered was definitely the word for the evening. Smiling waiters greeted us at the corner steps and led us to the perfect table.

High Season is heating up while the temperature slips into cool and pleasant evenings. If you're people watcher, just sitting on the restaurant's open-air patio watching the people walk down the street is always a treat.

Owner Domenico Lorusso (a.k.a. Mimmo) saunters through the crowded tables smiling and speaking with each and every diner. For a man running such a large and successful restaurant, he appears calm and completely in control.

Never in a rush, the wait staff quietly passes among the diners making sure they have whatever pleases them. After ordering a refreshing beverage, each table is served a basket bursting with soft-baked bread and a variety of flavored oils. Beware, the hot oil is so good you might devour your first basket in seconds.

The main dishes are delightfully delicious. This is definitely the place to go to satisfy your starving palate. Each plate has the perfect proportion. Meat, rice, vegetable and sauce, the balance of flavors conquer the most discriminating taste buds.

While dining, we were entertained by the oh-so-popular and ever-improving musical group, Metamorsa. This group of closely related young men have developed a sound of their own that is upbeat, professional and totally enjoyable.

Besides entertaining restaurant goers, this Modern Mexican group has produced multiple CD’s, a DVD, a music video, and at times, can be enjoyed for an entire evening at the Santa Barbara Theatre just down the street.

Also enjoying dinner was local author Polly Vicars, Husband and friends. That’s not a typo, just check out Polly’s articles and books. When not busy writing, Polly participates in events and fundraisers for one of Puerto Vallarta's most successful charities, Becas Vallarta. Their first event is coming up soon.

As if this divine dinner was not enough, there is also a full-sized ice cream bar on the premises. The flavors never end. For the young at heart, or those whose appetite is never satisfied, D'Mike's hot dog stand is just steps away. An Olas Altas landmark of sorts, D'Mike's serves what Stephanie and Robert call "the best dogs in town" every night.

With a full stomach, a satisfied appetite and a song in our hearts, we called it another delightful evening at La Piazzetta. I warmly recommend you stop by this wonderful restaurant at Rodolfo Gómez 143 and Olas Altas, where you'll always enjoy a night on the South Side of Vallarta.
