A Party with a Purpose in Bucerias
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

Enjoy a pot luck supper, a raffle, a silent auction, entertainment, and the chance to visit with friends you haven't seen all summer, while learning about some of the charitable organizations in Bucerias at A Party with a Purpose on December 7th.

Several "community activists" who were in Bucerias all through the hot, muggy months of summer thought it would a great idea if there could be a joint gathering representing several organizations, rather than a couple of "snowbird" welcome back parties, as has been the practice in years past.

So, they came up with the idea of throwing a Party with a Purpose on Friday, December 7th, from 6 to 10 pm.

This would give folks who are supporters of one Bucerias service organization, who don't know much about other groups, a chance to learn more about some other Bucerias charities.

The 4 participating groups are Amigos de Bucerias, The Bi-lingual Community Center, the Children's Library and P.E.A.C.E.

There'll be a pot luck supper (bring a favorite foods to share) and treats donated by Bucerias restaurants, cafes and bakeries will be available to munch on. Also, a raffle, silent auction, entertainment and an opportunity to say "welcome back" to the friends and neighbors you perhaps haven't seen all summer.

There will be no "cover charge," but drink tickets will be sold for soda, beer and wine. The proceeds from drink sales and "non-designated" donations will be shared by the 4 groups as well as the Tabasco State flood relief fund. Each group gets to keep any money donated directly to them.

Each organization will have an information table where you can learn more about their mission, goals, programs, funding, volunteer needs, etc. Please be sure to drop by each table and learn what the organization is doing and how you may be able to help. Perhaps you'd like to make a donation or see if the group is selling any items you might want to purchase, knowing it's for a good cause.

The Party with a Purpose will be held behind Dra. Alma Martinez's office (she's the local ophthalmologist) and the Lonely Sock Lavanderia. They are both located on the ocean side of the highway (across from the Famar Restaurant) at Javier Mina - where the traffic lights are at Av. Estaciones.

If you need further information, please feel free to send an email to harold.sokolove(at)gmail.com or give me a call at 298-2053.

That's Friday, December 7, from 6 to 10 pm. Hope to see you there!
