Mexico City - National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) students accused the Colombian government on Tuesday of killing five fellow students in the bombing of Ecuadorian territory and demanded their government take a firm position on the issue.

Students from the Philosophy and Arts Department marched to the dean's office of the House of Studies proclaiming the cultural nature of the murdered students' research in the guerrilla camp attacked by the Colombian Air Force.

They rejected a campaign by rightwing and media attacking UNAM and trying to criminalize the young people by appealing to alleged conclusions from Colombian and US intelligence organizations.

Their demands of the Mexican government include compensation from the Colombian government to the families of the five students killed in the military operation.

Department director Ambrosio Velazco agreed with the students demands and said he will support Lucia Morett, wounded in the bombing.
