Apple's iPhone will be available south of the border in June.

Mexico's El Universal newspaper reported on Thursday that the popular cell phone will be sold in Mexico and other Latin American nations in June.

A specific date was not available but the newspaper reported that Apple had reached a service agreement with Telcel, Mexico's dominant cell phone company.

El Universal reported that hacked versions of the iPhone are already used in Mexico, Latin America, Europe and Asia but they are not able to properly use all of its features.

It is not clear if service for the iPhone would be available in Reynosa, Matamoros or other border cities but El Universal reported that it could break BlackBerry's dominance in the Mexican market.

El Universal reported that the price of the iPhone is expected to be up to 33 percent higher in Mexico than in the United States.

The iPhone was released by Apple and AT&T in the United States on June 29, 2007 and offers unique telephone, music, Internet and video service.

With a 19.5 percent share, the iPhone is second to BlackBerry in the smartphones market.
