Unprecedented Investment in PV This Year

The Puerto Vallarta Convention Center is scheduled to be completed by late October, 2008.

According to Puerto Vallarta Mayor Javier Bravo Carbajal, thanks to the joint efforts of City Hall officers, to the unity and commitment of the present regime, and to negotiations with the state and federal governments, the municipality of Puerto Vallarta will benefit from a historic investment of over $438 million pesos in public works during 2008.

The above, he said, is the result of his intense negotiations with congress during 2007 where, with the support of representatives of various parliamentary groups, an allocation of $60 million pesos was successfully included in the budget for the present fiscal year for the construction of the second tunnel for the Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta bypass.

By the same token, resources of about $58 million pesos were authorized within the state budget for various public works, with the possibility of the sum being increased by $40 million pesos from surplus oil sales, which would be applied towards a series of works projected by the city government.

In addition, the state government will allocate $220 million pesos to the completion of the city's Multiple Use Convention Center, which is expected to be finished this year.

"Here in Puerto Vallarta, our main concern is for the people in our community. Our commitment is to them, and we put the interests of our population above political parties. Everyone at City Hall is conscious of this, and we will continue to work hard to better serve the city's ever-growing population," said Bravo Carbajal.
