Costa Rica, El Salvador, USA and host Mexico will play a round-robin tournament over three days, April 17-19, for two berths at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 Marseilles.

Canada will not participate in this year’s edition of the CONCACAF Qualifier that will be closed with an exhibition match on April 20 between a selection of All Stars and Mexico’s National Beach Soccer team. The All Star team will be formed by the best players of the tournament mixed with some International Stars from Europe and South America.

The USA and Mexico were the finalists of last year’s edition and both went on to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2007 at the "home of Beach Soccer," Rio de Janeiro, where Mexico surprised the world by reaching the final in their first ever participation at a World Cup.

Mexico eventually lost the final against World Champions Brazil. "It was a wonderful experience for us as a team and a huge step forward for Mexican Beach Soccer," Commented Rámon Raya. "Now it’s important to keep on working hard and play a good tournament in Puerto Vallarta, to show the world that last year’s performance wasn’t a coincidence."

The games will all be played at the Unidad Deportiva Municipal Agustin Flores Contreras, also known as the "Sports Stadium," which is across the street from the Sheraton in Puerto Vallarta's Hotel Zone.

Sand will be imported environmentally from beaches and returned when the tournament concludes. Extra seating will be brought in to increase the stadium's capacity by at least 5000 seats.

There are five different qualifying events around the globe, each representing all continents. The top two teams from each qualifier will advance to the World Championship in Marseilles, France.
