PV Chefs Pay Tribute to San Pascual Bailón

Puerto Vallarta's culinary professionals will erect a monument to San Pascual Bailón, the patron saint of cooks in Mexico, on Saturday May 31, 2008 at 7 pm.
This majestic work of art was created by renowned Mexican sculptor Ramiz Barquet, whose numerous works embellish the surroundings of Puerto Vallarta's historic quarters.
The inauguration of this monument will be followed by a fundraising dinner at Vitea Oceanfront Bistro organized by four restaurants - Trio, River Café, Los Xitomates, and Café des Artistes - with proceeds going towards the payment of this sculpture.
The monument will occupy the esplanade of famous national chefs, and plaques with the names of acclaimed chefs will be placed around it. Award winners will be selected by a special committee led by Mr. Ulrich Schwartz, one of the monument's sponsors, and a select group of well known Mexican culinary celebrities.
This award will be presented during the prestigious International Gourmet Festival as one of the highlights of the world renowned culinary extravaganza.
This monument will offer greater relevance to the great symbol of Mexico's culinary heritage in order to "celebrate it with the effusiveness that it deserves."
National and local media will be attending the inauguration ceremony in order to inform the public of this special homage to our region's social and cultural heritage which will have a positive impact of the promotion of tourism the area.
Municipal authorities, as well as authorities from Jalisco state and the federal government will also be in attendance highlighting the importance of this event.
Puerto Vallarta owes much of its great success to the high quality and variety of its gastronomy, which constitutes one of the destination's fundamental pillars and sets it apart from competing destinations.
Fine gastronomy has also earned Puerto Vallarta the title of "Mexico's culinary capital" after Mexico City, whose massive proportions can't be compared with our destination. It is worth mentioning however, that even in Latin Americas' great metropolis the gastronomy of this charming Jalisco town is well known.
It is a great honor for us to share with you the tribute that we pay to the passion that we feel for our profession and the commitment that it represents to host the most demanding palates on a daily basis.
Los Chefs de Puerto Vallarta Pagan Homenaje a San Pascual Bailón

Los profesionales de la gastronomía en Puerto Vallarta erigen una escultura de San Pascual Bailón, santo patrono de los cocineros en México.
Esta majestuosa obra de arte fue realizada por el gran escultor mexicano Ramiz Barquet quien engrandece con numerosas piezas el hermoso entorno de nuestro centro histórico.
Dicha inauguración se llevará a cabo el próximo sábado 31 de mayo a las 19:00 horas. Este evento se complementará con una cena en el Restaurante Vitea organizada por 4 restaurantes Trio, River Café, Los Xitomates y Café des Artstes con el fin de recaudar fondos para poder pagar la obra de arte.
El espacio que ocupará esta pieza será la explanada de la fama de los Chefs a nivel nacional, se colocarán placas a su alrededor de los galardonados quienes serán seleccionados por un comité encabezado por el Señor Ulrich Schwartz por ser uno de los patrocinadores y un grupo de personalidades reconocidas en el ámbito gastronómico de nuestro país.
Este galardón será entregado en el marco del prestigioso Festival Gourmet Internacional como uno de los acontecimientos estelares del mundialmente reconocido suceso culinario.
Este monumento tiene la finalidad de dar mayor relevancia a tan importante símbolo del acervo culinario en México para así "festejarlo con la efusividad que merece."
Asistirán a esta ceremonia medios de comunicación nacionales y locales con el objetivo de dar a conocer tan singular homenaje al patrimonio cultural y social de esta Región lo cual impactará positivamente a la promoción turística.
También estarán presentes autoridades municipales, estatales y federales otorgándole la importancia que tiene este acontecimiento.
Otro de los beneficios que nos brindará esta celebración es la consolidación de nuestra industria y la atención que podremos captar de los amantes del buen comer y beber.
Puerto Vallarta debe en gran parte su éxito a la gran calidad y variedad de su cocina lo cual es hoy por hoy uno de sus pilares fundamentales, lo que diferencia claramente de otros destinos turísticos, habiendo así ganado merecidamente el título de "Capital gastronómica de México" sin así competir con la capital del país pues las proporciones son por demás rebasadas por la gran metrópoli de América Latina. Cabe mencionar que aun en tan inmensa urbe es reconocida la destacada gastronomía de tan encantador pueblito típico de Jalisco cuna de los más importantes símbolos de nuestra cultura.
