Jesse Apologises for Obama Insult

U.S. civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has apologised for a crude and disparaging remark about the U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama this week.

Jackson was speaking into an open microphone he thought had been turned off after an interview on Fox News Channel.

He complained to another guest on a tv show that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama can seem to be "talking down to black people" at times and should broaden his message.

Reuters' Sonia Legg reports.
