If you've ever dreamed of working up a sweat with some of the hottest swim wear models in the world, don't miss the UjENA 5k run/walk, scheduled to begin at 9 am on Saturday, August 30 across from the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort in Puerto Vallarta.

The UjENA 5k run/walk is unique in that it is the only such 5k run in the world that allows the general public to run alongside bikini models, since UjENA models and photographers are required to compete in order to earn points towards the coveted UjENA Model of the Year Award.

This is your chance to join more than 100 bikini models as they race towards the finish line, following a route from the Sheraton Hotel to the Malecón, an oceanfront walkway that separates Banderas Bay from Paseo Diaz Ordaz, the main street in downtown Vallarta.

More than 400 runners are expected to participate in this year's UjENA 5k, which now attracts quality runners as well as fun runners. Its inclusion as a mandatory event is not surprising, given Anderson’s background.

Prior to founding the UjENA Swim wear Company, Anderson started Runner’s World magazine at age 17 and built it into a $30 million dollar company that launched America’s love affair with running in the 1970s.

The first UjENA 5k run/walk, which took place over 20 years ago, was a private race just for participants in the annual UjENA Jam model and photographer talent search, but two years ago it was opened up to the general public.

This year's Puerto Vallarta UjENA 5k run/walk is open to local and non-model participants, offering $1000 USD in cash prizes, including: $100 for the first place winning male, female, over 40 male, over 40 female, under 20 male, under 20 female, competing model, competing photographer, local PV resident male and local PV resident female.

The entry fee for the 2008 Puerto Vallarta UjENA 5k run/walk is $20 US or $200 pesos per participant. The first 200 finishers will receive special medals, UjENA T-shirts and free passes to the Ujena Jam Expo.
