Here in Puerto Vallarta, residents are invited to take part in La Caminata de M้xico Unido Contra la Delincuencia, a nationwide march to protest public insecurity and organized crime in Mexico. The march will leave Parque Hidalgo this Saturday night at 7 pm. Local participants are asked to wear white and carry a candle.

Mexico City - Mexican activists are finalizing plans for a nationwide march scheduled for Saturday to protest prevailing insecurity in that nation.

Joaquin Quintana from the Group "Nonviolent Coexistence" said that it must be a silent demonstration, without speeches or banners but only with candles carried by demonstrators who will also dress in white in demand for peace.

According to the organizers the conditions are ready to begin the march simultaneously on the main avenues in 60 Mexican cities at 18:00 local hour, including the Downtown Reform Walk in this capital.

A national pact entered into effect this week derived from the emergency meeting of the Mexican Security Council, aimed at facing the rise of criminality with more efficiency.

The so-called Mexico Agreement for Security, Justice and Lawfulness contains 75 measures adopted by common consent between the Executive and the 35 country"s governors which must reach consensus from 40 days to three years.
