Forrest Hylton: Morales in stronger position in fight with opposition governors
 
UNASUR, The Union of South American Nations gave Bolivian president Evo Morales a universal declaration of support in his ongoing political struggle with autonomist forces in the Media Luna lowland provinces.

Despite observers stating that Morales is struggling to keep the country together, Forrest Hylton believes that "Morales is in a stronger position than he was before."

Forrest Hylton is the the author of Evil Hour in Colombia (Verso, 2006), and with Sinclair Thomson, co-author of Revolutionary Horizons: Past and Present in Bolivian Politics (Verso, 2007). He is a regular contributor to New Left Review and NACLA Report on the Americas.
