Vicente Fox served as president of Mexico from 2000-2006. Among his focuses were fighting drugs and corruption and working to ease immigration policies with the United States.

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox focused on immigration issues in a lecture Tuesday in Kansas.

Fox told a crowd of more than 1,500 students and faculty at Kansas State University that he is hopeful the next U.S. president will find a mutually beneficial solution to immigration. He spoke for 45 minutes as part of the university's Landon Lecture series.

Fox says Mexico is doing its part to find a solution by raising its economy and strengthening its democracy. But he says the U.S. has to find a way to manage immigration that doesn't punish those Mexicans already across the border.
