The Gift of Laughter at PJ's Comedy Club
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

Not often is one afforded the opportunity to split a gut laughing so hard it hurts while simultaneously helping someone truly in need. Just such a chance is being offered Saturday January 31, 2009 by P.J. Ensminger, the owner of Vallarta's new Comedy Club located in the San Franciscan Resort.

"Gib Hauersperger has been a wonderful friend to so many people here in Puerto Vallarta, this is a fantastic opportunity for us to help him in a way that will really make a difference - and laugh while doing so," said PJ.

Mr. Hauersperger, who has been undergoing very expensive treatment for cancer, has been a resident of Puerto Vallarta for over six years. Gib has assisted countless people from his various concierge desks during his time living here and continues to do so now at Blue Seas Beach Club. His contributions to Vallarta, and to the Gay community here, are innumerable.

P.J, as she prefers to be called, has booked the extraordinary comic talents of T.J. Miller and Nick Vatteroot for the night of the FUNdraiser. TJ, soon to be staring in Dreamwork's She's Out of my League opposite Jay Baruchel, Miller was selected as one of Variety Magazine's "Top 10 Comics to Watch," as well as one of Entertainment Weekly's Next Big Things in Comedy. Last fall he appeared in the J.J. Abrams' feature Cloverfield and starred in the ABC TV show Carpoolers.

Nick Vatterott is a human who performs as much comedy that he can get his hands and elbows on. Nick is a graduate of the Second City training center, iO training center, and Annoyance theater. He spends most of his comedic endeavors in Chicago, the city that never stops issuing parking tickets.

Vatterott's sketch and improv have been seen at iO, the Annoyance Theater, Second City Unhinged, Chicago's Sketch Fest, the D.C. Comedy Festival, The Del Close Marathon, and the Toronto Improv Festival. His one man show No Outlet, has been performed in several theaters in Chicago and even downtown Hollywood. He has performed in stand-up clubs from New York and L.A. to Istanbul, Turkey. Nick likes to write in the third person. To learn more about Nick Vatterott visit his website check out OodlesOfPun.com, or visit your local public library.

The show will begin at 8 pm at P.J.'s Comedy Club located in the San Franciscan Resort at 213 Calle Pilitas, just east of Olas Altas in Vallarta's Romantic Zone. There will be plenty to drink and lots of delicious Mexican snacks (botanas) provided by Hotel Casa Cupula, who is co-hosting the event with the Comedy Club.

"I'm delighted to be able to assist P.J. in this truly unique event. As a long time friend and co-worker, Gib has always been there for me and for so many of us in Puerto Vallarta," says Darrique Barton, manager of Casa Cupula. "We're all going to laugh a ton and have a great time while helping him; what could be better?"

For tickets, call and leave message at (322) 222-6473 ext 122 or PJ's direct line of 044-322-174-1751. Tickets can be purchased at the door. However, as seating is limited, it is recommended to make reservations.
