The State of Nayarit announced their intention to build a new four-lane highway running from Punta de Mita to here in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
Seeking to increase tourism in the Punta de Mita region, the State of Nayarit announced their intention to build a new four-lane highway running from Punta de Mita to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

Griselda Esparza, sub-secretary of the Government of Nayarit recently visited the area to reassure the local residents and all people in the area that the new highway is supported by Nayarit State Governor Ney Gonzalez, who is dedicated to pushing this very important project forward.

This new plan is to begin within three months, so by mid May 2009, we will start seeing the initial construction.

There are several projects underway to further connect the area of Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit with the rest of the state. One such project is the construction of a highway that will allow La Cruz to connect to the new bridge being built over the Ameca River.

Hector Paniagua Salazar, Mayor of Bahía de Banderas also announced the road connecting Valle de Banderas and Bucerías is currently 95% complete.
