President leads commemorative ceremony of 96th anniversary of March of Loyalty.
Mexico, D.F. - Tuesday, President Felipe Calderón led the Commemorative Ceremony of the 96th Anniversary of the March of Loyalty in the Main Courtyard of Chapultepec Castle, at which awards were given to Armed Forces personnel who have distinguished themselves in the campaign against drug trafficking and homage was paid to the soldiers that died in this fight.

Accompanied by members of his cabinet and representatives of the Legislative and Judicial branches, the President read out the names of the heroes of the Heroic Military College that participated in the battles of 1847 and 1914.

During the ceremony, National Defense Secretary General Guillermo Galván Galván confirmed the armed forces' loyalty to President Felipe Calderón.

“We are a promising state. It is time for society to move towards the future with passion and faith. As a military corps, we confirm to the whole nation our absolute commitment to continue participating fully in all security activities designed to guarantee the peace and tranquility the country deserves," said the General Secretary.

In this respect, he added:

“Our mood is recovering and our spirits remain unbroken. Nothing intimidates us and nothing will stop us. Just as on that February 9th at the beginning of the last century, the Armed Forces will continue to escort Mexico."

He added that dealing with those that threaten the country's peace involves everyone, adding that civic participation, with a civil awareness and public spirit, is invaluable.

He added that even in these difficult times, a sensible, mature society cannot take justice into its own hands, however justified the reasons may be.

He declared that this practice, which is anathema to the rule of law, poses a risk to the country's social and institutional fabric and declared that denunciation is the genuine legal instrument that enhances the positive results of this struggle.
