Due to the 11th Intentional Fireworks Symposium, all activities will be suspended at the Puerto Vallarta Agustin Flores Contreras Sports Stadium from April 17 thru 24, 2009.
For security reasons, all activities will be suspended at the Puerto Vallarta Agustin Flores Contreras Sports Stadium from April 17 thru 24, 2009. The Stadium will be used as one of the three sites for the PyroTechnic displays during the 11th Intentional Fireworks Symposium.

Puerto Vallarta City Sports Director César David Macías Martínez said that initially they were going to leave the stadium's auditorium and Field #1 open to the public, but in the end, they decided not to run the risk.

The sports leagues were notified and were asked to postpone some events scheduled for those dates. They also sought the understanding and support of the athletes to allow the realization of such an event that undoubtedly would put Puerto Vallarta's name at an international level.

Martínez notified the local sports leagues of their plans to close the stadium for the Fireworks Symposium, and asked them to postpone the events scheduled for those dates. He also asked for their support and understanding, explaining that event like this put the city of Puerto Vallarta in the international spotlight.

He also explained that the reason they will suspend activities on the 17th is because that is when the equipment and gunpowder will arrive and the fireworks manufacturers and showmen will begin setting up on the baseball and softball fields for the exhibitions. Everything will return back to normal after April 24th, when the Symposium ends.
