Veracruz - Agricultural producers in the state of Veracruz hailed and expressed their support of federal government’s actions to fight organized crime while applauding the strategy to combat the effects of the world financial crisis.

Gabriel Barrera Nader, President of the Coffee Product System told the President that coffee producers in that state hailed and supported the actions implemented by government to combat all forms of organized crime in the country.

During his participation in the event to hand over resources to the Agricultural Sector, in the municipality of Veracruz, Veracruz, Gabriel Barrera also told President Calderón of the state's agricultural producers' gratitude for his view of reviewing and reframing the way the new PROCAMPO operates.

For his part, Jacob Abel Velazco, President of the Livestock Union in the south of the State of Veracruz, highlighted the fulfillment of President Felipe Calderón's commitment to handing over resources for the agricultural sector ahead of time for the first time in history, and in a direct, transparent fashion.

“It is crucial for us that your government acknowledges and values the fact that the primary sector has and will continue to be the basis of the Mexican economy and that it is in the countryside that we will have to inject the necessary resources for this support to be increasingly solid," he said.

He celebrated the fact that this year, major new projects have been implemented to support the country's livestock sector and above all, he said, "That more resources are being assigned to finance the countryside, which is necessary to make the country grow, produce, improve its technology and commercialize quality products in a timely fashion."
