For more information or to make your reservations, contact Seth Cloutman at seth(at)foodbyseth.com or 044-322-131-8808.
Puerto Vallarta - Private chef, caterer and cooking instructor, Seth Cloutman is planning two public events to celebrate Independence this July, and though the occasions are very different both celebrations are sure to be distinctively delicious.

On the 4th of July Chef Cloutman will host a "Coconuts One-Night-Only Dinner." For those of you who do not know, Seth's first position in Puerto Vallarta was as the Executive Chef of Coconuts Bar and Grill, a south side restaurant featuring Southern comfort food. The response was, in large part thanks to Tracy Parks, an overnight success. Virtually each night the restaurant would be near or at capacity with an extremely loyal clientele.

Since it's closing, a large number of those clients have asked Seth over and over again when he will cook some more country fried steak, meat loaf, BBQ pork ribs with homemade sauce, mashed potatoes, collard greens, fried green tomatoes, creamed spinach and more. So what better day to do this than on July 4th?

The Coconuts One-Night-Only Dinner will be an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord with beer and wine. So far the reservations are from both loyal Coconutters as well as some new faces. We'll also be celebrating the 33rd wedding anniversary of BanderasNews contributors Sue Fornoff and her husband Harold Sokolove, who were loyal Coconuts clients.

The cost of this dinner has been priced to meet the current economy at $250 pesos or $19 USD per person. Reservations may be made for an early seating at 5 pm or a second seating at 8 pm to watch the fireworks. It is strongly recommended that you book your seat as soon as possible, as seating is limited.

Bastille Day - the French equivalent of the US July 4th celebration - is celebrated on July 14th, when in 1789 the people of Paris stormed the fortress prison and soon took power. When Seth lived in Paris there was always a huge street party with, of course, lots of food and wine.

Here in Vallarta, Chef Cloutman is planning an evening with lots of French bubbly, Kir Royales and many canapes, followed by a sit down dinner including such classics as French Onion Soup, Beef Bourginon, Potato Galettes and more. And of course, there will be chocolate mousse. The cost of this event will be $600 pesos or $45 USD per person. Seating is limited to 18 persons.

Each of these events will be held in a private condo. Bookings and deposits are essential in advance to ensure reservations. For more information or to make your reservations, contact Seth Cloutman at seth(at)foodbyseth.com or 044-322-131-8808.

Seth is also offering private cooking classes throughout the low season, so if you have a small group of people who'd like to spend about six or seven hours going to market, creating a menu based on what is seasonally available at market and then prepping, cooking and finally dining on the fruits of your labors, please get in touch with him using the contact information above.
