Planning a business meeting, expo or convention? Look no further than Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Offering more than a fabulous beach vacation, Puerto Vallarta's new $50 million dollar multi-use center is proof of the Banderas Bay area's growing importance as a global and diverse destination.

Recently, a group of business owners, members of the English media and the curious from the expat community were invited for a behind-the-scenes look at the new Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center, which opened in the spring of this year.

Nestled near the protected El Salado Estuary, just east of our international airport and within easy reach from the marina and major hotels, Vallarta's new $50 million dollar multi-use center is proof of our area's growing importance as a global and diverse destination.

Led by Ernesto Hauser, Director General of the Convention Center, our 2-hour tour introduced us to the inner workings of the center including the exhibit hall, industrial kitchens, loading docks, business center and a host of meeting rooms.

All in attendance marveled at the well-thought-out configuration, amenities and beauty of the center.

"I am particularly impressed with the outside areas of the center," exclaimed Pamela Thompson of HealthCare Resources Puerto Vallarta. "From the 23,000 square meters (over 247,000 square feet) of gardens and ample parking, to the dramatic and iconic sails and waterfalls as you enter the plaza, our new convention center complex is one to be proud of," Pamela added.

"I was amazed at the flexibility of the spaces," added Tim Longpré of PVRPV Rentals and Property Management. "With the moveable air walls to the discreet corridors, the architects of the center designed spaces that can accommodate groups from 20 to 7,000 in an effective way."

Designed by the celebrated Guadalajara-based architect, Guillermo Gómez Vázquez Aldana, the facilities offer an array of features available at the best convention centers around the globe, including a full-service ticketing booth, a 5000 square meter (over 53,000 square feet) grand exhibit hall, VIP salons with luxurious dressing rooms, storage facilities, a well-equipped press room, translation cabins, an on-site restaurant, medical services and boutique shops - all with access to the center's free wireless Internet service.

With a main building of over 15,000 square meters (over 161,000 square feet) on an area of over 17 hectares (over 42 acres,) and parking for 670 cars and 50 buses, the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center will host much more than conventions from around the world; on the horizon look for announcements about upcoming entertainment, concerts and fairs as well as sporting, artistic and cultural events.

Soon a multi-country marketing campaign will begin, and a bilingual sales team will come on board, both supported by the State of Jalisco, the owner and financier of the new center. With multiple events already confirmed through next year, the additional marketing and sales team are dedicated to keeping the new center busy, bringing much-needed revenue to the businesses and services of the region.

We were also pleased to learn that a portion of the convention center-generated revenue will go towards ensuring the conservation and protection of the nearby El Salado Estuary, one of the most important estuary systems in the Banderas Bay region.

The new center is dedicated to becoming part of the diverse cultural fabric of Vallarta and in serving all of its citizens. To find out more about the new Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center, rental opportunities and upcoming events, visit CicPuertoVallarta.com.
