In this edition of The BanderasNews Report, host Nicole Martin gives us a look at some of the week's news headlines from Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay. We also tell you about some upcoming local events that you won't want to miss.

Tuesday August 25th was the Local and National Finals of the MEX 2009 bartender tournament that was hosted by Hotel Sheraton. After the preliminary competition the week before, only 14 local bartenders were left. The top three local bartenders went on to compete in the national tournament.

The Jalisco Secretary of Tourism announced that next year PULLMANTUR will start two new Cruise Ship Routes, "The Mayan Caribbean" and the "Mexican Pacific". One of the Ships port stops will be Puerto Vallarta; this will contribute greatly to the local economy.

On Saturday August 29th, from 2-5, Yelapa writer Robert Hardin is having a book signing. His new book "Race Relations" is the latest novel in his popular David Armstrong series. This event will be held at Café Roma, which is just a few blocks west of the municipal flea market in downtown Puerto Vallarta

Going on now through September 16th, you and your family can journey through the world of Fantasy literature at the Centro Comercial Galerías Shopping Mall. This exhibit features a Mágico Intexhibition and has workshops daily from 1 to 8 pm.
