There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. So we've put together a brief overview of some of this week's news headlines from local Spanish language publications, and added some upcoming events you won't want to miss.

Street Food

This past September 18th "La Calle" opened its doors to the public with a concept to fit the name. La Calle (The Street) is a brand new restaurant bar located on the road to Ixtapa, and has a theme that exactly reflects its name.

Here you can find snacks and foods that you would normally find on the street, such as Tacos al Pastor or hot dogs, with the quality you would expect to find in a restaurant. The restaurant's theme is complimented by live music by El Grupo Sol y Luna and La Banda Esmeralda, as well as a dancing pony show. La Calle also offers a sports bar, karaoke and outstanding service.

$4.5 million pesos Invested in Vallarta

As one of Mexico’s most important vacation destinations, Puerto Vallarta generates a floating population and the constant arrival of new habitants. We are part of the second most important state in the country. These factors tell us that our city has different characteristics or advantages than other cities, which is why there is a new campaign to improve security in PV.

Puerto Vallarta will receive $4.5 million pesos this week and there will be 10 new patrol trucks given to the police department, as well as new vehicles for the fire department. The city will also inaugurate 3 new streets and will keep inaugurating new streets weekly until a total of 100 new streets have been added.

World Wide Tourism Day

Starting September 27th, PV will be celebrating Worldwide Tourism Day. For a period of 3 days Vallarta locals and visitors will enjoy different events designed to entertain the whole family. Joining in the festivities will be ballet Xiutla who will be performing and will be joined on stage by "La Banda Sinfonica de Tomatlan."

Another big event will be "La Carrera Del Turista" (the tourist race) which will be a family event, anyone from 6-90 years of age can join in the fun. If you would like to participate in the race, you can sign up at the Augustin Flores Stadium which is located on Ave. Francisco Medina Acensio.
