In the main event Jorge Lenin Lopez of Michoacan has his hand rasied in victory after defeating Puerto Vallarta's Eder "Thai" Huerta. Huerta was knocked down twice in the first round and broke two fingers in his Right hand, but was resiliant and made a fight of it.

Action in the main event as Lopez dominated the fight early but Huerta came on in the tird round to keep the fight close, but lost on a decision.

In the professional undercard, Rigoberto "Duro" Murguia of Puerto Vallarta has his hand raised in victory after his dominating 1st round KO over Marco Ramirez of Michoacan after just 54 seconds. Ramirez was still wobbly five minutes after the bout.

The opening bout on the card has Juan Altamirano of Puerto Vallarta victorios in a 2rd round TKO over Burucas also of Puerto Vallarta.

A tradidional Muay Thai ritual praying to the gods prior to a fight.
At 1:30 Saturday morning, the successful Muay Thai MFC 8 "Blow By Blow" ended with a bizarre main event. Local favorite Eder "Thai" Huerta of Tanai Luark Gym was knocked down twice in the first round and also broke two fingers in his right hand; his power hand. His opponent Jorge Lenin Lopez of La Piedad, Michoacan seemed to have the main event won handily as the injured Huerta was far behind on points and could only kick and punch with his weaker hand. The large crowd expected Huerta, the referee or the ring doctor to stop the fight but Huerta gutted it out with all he had.

Huerta didn't appear he would survive the second round but he wouldn't quit and at the break between rounds, he seemed to find a new strategy. He kicked regularly, landed enough lefts to make his older opponent expend energy running around the ring trying to hold onto his advantage. The fight did go the distance, and Huerta did lose but displayed courage and the final scoring, although unanimous, was close.

The two professional undercard fights and co-main events ended much differently. Rigoberto "Duro" Murguia also of Tanai Luark unleashed a vicious right hand and his opponent Marco Ramirez of Michoacan crumbled to the canvas unable to get up after just 54 seconds of the opening round. Fortunately he stayed on the canvas for about five minutes and after receiving medical attention, was able to get up on his own.

Guillermo "Willy" Estrada of Tanai Luark appeared to be behind on the scorecards in his scheduled five round bout against an energetic Alavaro Lopez of Sityodtong Gym in Puerto Vallarta. Lopez, in a 60 kilo bout was landing kicks and punches and got the best of Estrada in their rapid exchanges. But as often happens in Muay Thai matches is the unexpected. With the fight in his advantage Lopez told the referee he was unable to continue midway through the third round and Estrada was a winner on a TKO. The crowd was shocked and after asking the referee, I was told he said he "just couldn't go anymore".

Mexican Independence Day festivities were surrounded by the Mexican National Championship Amateur fight between Noe Mota of Mota Gym in Puerto Vallarta and Mahatma "Araña" Garcia of Tepic, Nayarit. Also fought at 60 kilos the two battled ferociously throughout the entire five rounds. It was hard to pick a winner between the two youngsters but a Muay Thai amateur fight cannot end in a draw. Garcia of Tepic won the title belt in a very close split decision.

Winners of the opening amateur bouts were Leopoldo "Torito" Reyes of Tepic in a split decision, Marco "Niño" Mota of Puerto Vallarta by unanimous decision, Carlos "Charly" Aguilera of Puerto Vallarta by TKO in the 3rd round, Roberto Reyes of Puerto Vallarta by decision, Hugo Flores of Tepic by unanimous decision, Rigoberto "Boxer" Alarcon of Puerto Vallarta by TKO in the 2nd round and Juan Altamitano of Puerto Vallarta by TKO in the 3rd round.

The quality of the amateur bouts was superb and we expect to see more of the amateurs advance to professional status in the near future. Jose Luis "Rayo" Uribe the manager of the hosting Tanai Luark Gym put together a great fight card that entertained the full house at the Collage. Restaurant La Querencia on the Malecon was the main sponsor of the event.
