As he led the 4th Meeting of FONAES meetings, he highlighted Federal Government's commitment to support them Mexico City. "Time is running out. We will not condemn a generation of Mexicans to hunger, malnutrition or neglect," said President Felipe Calderón, as a result of which he urged society to support the approval of the 2010 Budget Package in order to combat poverty and prevent the economic crisis from affecting those with least.

“Now is the time to use acts to express our solidarity to Mexico and above all, to the poor and the children of the poor who are those that are in greatest need of responsible support and the contribution of all Mexicans," he explained.

During the 4th Meeting of Social Entrepreneurs of FINAES 2009, the President declared that we are going to transform the country if we continue working together without faltering in our commitment to Mexico to pull through and overcome adversity.

Addressing two thousand women entrepreneurs, including guests from Central America, the President declared that it is worth making the effort to protect the poorest in the country in order to protect them, since "living in extreme poverty in the 20th century cannot be a reality that 21st century Mexicans will tolerate.

“It is a package that focuses mainly not only on stopping but also on speeding up the struggle against extreme poverty in the country and narrowing the inequality gap separating Mexicans," he said.

President Felipe Calderón also highlighted the importance of women in Mexican economy, adding that they are now the main engine of progress, which is why his government will continue to support programs to enable them to achieve this objective and thereby guarantee equal opportunity and gender equality, a challenge for society as a whole.

“Today, I have come to confirm Federal Government's support of women throughout the country. Women are a fundamental pillar of families and the community. They are a fundamental pillar because they construct society,” he said.

He said that through FINAES, over three billion pesos have been invested in productive projects that have created 100,000 jobs, adding that this administration has supported 1,400,000 women.

“In the last year alone, we have supported over 60,000 endeavors led by women. As I said before, over 60 per cent of the projects supported by FONAES target women such as yourselves; responsible, honest, hard-working, enterprising women who love their families and love Mexico as we do. Women, when you pull through, you help Mexico pull through," he said.

During the FONAES 2009 Meeting, to be held from September 21 to 22, micro-businessmen will be given training in on-line technology, innovation and exports, organization, productive chains and fiscal updating, in order to professionalize their business activity.
