Ada Opens Aura Spa in Luxurious Marina Vallarta Facility

November 28, 2009

Ada, owner of Aura Spa in one of the private air conditioned massage therapy rooms.

In the backyard, privately located on the Marina Golf Course fairway, is a pool and jacuzzi for the use of clients.

That sure looks comfortable and when one leaves the massage table, they are guaranteed to feel comfortable.
Ada, perhaps the most popular massage therapist in Puerto Vallarta for the last ten years in the same location in the downtown area has opened her own new spa in Marina Vallarta at Albatros 285. She began massage therapy over ten years ago at the Blue Bay Resort and Spa.

Named Aura Spa, the facility occupies a large private home with three rooms for massage therapy and another room for the many treatments that she and her staff of five offers. As an aging and often aching tennis player I have utilized Ada exclusively for the last six years that I lived in Puerto Vallarta.

With quite a unique setting, much different than the storefront massage facilities one sees scattered all around Puerto Vallarta, Ada's new facility is nestled on the golf course in the Marina, has a swimming pool and separate Jacuzzi in the backyard, right on one of the course fairways, but with privacy. Able to swim or sit and relax after your pampering spa treatment in such a tranquil setting adds so much more than the traditional on street massage businesses. The house is also air conditioned and has showers, again unlike most others.

The high season tourists and seasonal visitors have made it imperative to book a massage or treatment with Ada at least a day in advance the past five years, due to her increasing word of mouth popularity. She has hand picked her staff from many facilities and they utilize her unique massage and therapeutic techniques.

Below is a list of some of the services Aura Spa offers and the prices are spectacular:

• One hour massage - $350 pesos or $30 USD

• One hour, 15 minute therapeutic massage - $400 pesos or $35 USD

• One hour, 30 minute massage $500 pesos or $40 USD

• Hot stone therapy (first massage and then massage with hot stones) - One hour, 30 minutes - $600 pesos or $50 USD

• Chocolate Therapy (includes exfoliation and massage) - One hour, 30 minutes - $600 pesos or $50 USD

• Exfoliation - (body scrub and massage with special cream) - One hour, 15 minutes - $450 pesos or $38 USD

Reductive Massage - This is a difficult one to describe. It is to reduce fats in the area that one wishes. First is exfoliation in that area, after which a cold gel is used (pulverized natural mud) with an anti-inflammatory, then gels for cellutisis and finally gel to refirm. This works better in packages, as the results are better with three of four treatments. The cost is $500 pesos or $40 USD for each treatment.

Aura Spa also does facials. The normal facial is just to cleanse and is $450 pesos or $38 USD. A deluxe facial is preferable that cleanses, uses vitamins, Botox mask and elastine plus and costs $500 pesos or $40 USD.

What is a spa without manicures and pedicures? A normal manicure is $120 pesos or $10 USD and if more work is needed a deluxe manicure is $150 pesos or $13 USD. Normal pedicures are $150 pesos or $13 USD and if more work is needed a deluxe pedicure is $180 pesos or $15 USD.

Reflexology is offered that has work done on hands, feet and legs and for 30 minutes the price is $200 pesos or $17 USD.

Other services are being added at the Aura Spa as they are requested and/or become available.

There are always discounts when two or more treatments are combined. English is spoken by the receptionist and by Ada as well. Prices in US or Canadian dollars are adjusted to market rates. Currently with the USD rate at 13-1, the prices are fantastic.

Once you experience the Aura Spa, I assure you that like me, you will keep coming back.

The spa is easy to get to. If you turn left into the Marina at the entrance closest to the airport (at the Plaza Marina), that will be Albatros. You never have to leave Albatros. Two landmarks to follow: Go straight past the American School, which is just a 1/4 mile on the right side. Keep going straight for another 1/2 mile and there will be a church on the right side. Aura Spa is just across the street, a few houses further.
